SPHINX
By THE RABBLE
SPHINX is a cinematic performance investigating the economics and experience of the care giver. Part experimental film, part song cycle and part avant garde theatrical extravaganza SPHINX is set to be THE RABBLE’s most ambitious work to date.
SPHINX is set on a revolve that slowly turns, a camera in the centre capturing the details of each act of care as it moves past. Each rotation of the stage is a new scene – a woman caring for her dying mother, a parent negotiating care of their young child, a cleaner leaving her own children to clean someone else’s house, a nurse showering an elderly patient. Epic worlds are revealed as we come to understand each act of care not as something banal, but as an operatic and heroic gesture.
